Skyland Mission Statement
The mission of Skyland Community High School
is to create a learning community dedicated to educating one
student at a time. This starts by giving kids the
opportunity to learn in a place where people know each other
well and treat each other with respect. It continues by
designing a personalized learning program for each student
individually, providing real-world opportunities to connect
students to their learning, and expecting them to find
authentic, meaningful ways to show what they have learned.
And it culminates in graduating self-directed learners armed
with the skills and experiences to succeed in college and
beyond.

Skyland Vision
Statement
We believe that
schools should be guided by one clear principle: that
everything they do should be “what’s best for kids.” For
this to happen, schools have to be places where kids of all
kinds are known well, understood and respected. Each
student’s educational program should be developed by those
who know him or her best: parents, teachers and him/herself.
This program should grow out of needs, interests and
passions. Its goal should be to connect him/her to the world
and to the world of work. |
Access Idiom in collaboration

facilitate language arts workshops to 12 youth on an
ongoing basis throughout the 2007-2008 school year. These 1

"I have been writing poetry since I can remember for my
own therapeutic release of energy and now facilitate its
therapy for high risk youth in the Denver Area. I've worked
with youth for about 6 years now and have been at Art From
Ashes for close to three years. I love that the spoken and
written word is so powerful and hope that all who engage and
are changed by its force continue to infect others with
light."
